I think the coho will be just fine with it, they can use the fish ladder anytime they want, or pass through the dam when it is open enough. Best River Levels The Siuslaw generally fishes pretty well at river levels between about 5 and 8 feet for typical steelhead methods.
If it reduces the big surges of coho that often followed a big change in the dam opening, that could make catching them a bit more difficult, for some. Today was my 8th trip out! Lost one to a seal today above Cushman. Fishing is typically slow during the beginning of August but usually picks up by the end of the month. While the first fish and anglers arrive by December, the Siuslaw River and Lake Creek steelhead run peaks in January and February and can be good in the first weeks of March.
