I'm a 6th grader almost 7th and I got put in pre-algebra and I don't know what it is.

If he doesn't feel ready for algebra, take pre-algebra. If your student is being offered Pre Algebra and they have only been in a normal 6th grade class I would defiantly choose prealgebra. Pre-Algebra is 8th grade math, and Math 7 is for seventh graders. Seventh graders are capable of Algebra 1 or even Geometry, depending on how well they have prepared.

Introducing Algebra at such an early age often causes more harm than good since kids end up discouraged and hating math. I struggled to keep a B in the class, but my teacher acted like she was a college professor., but I thank her for it because I wouldn't be able to make A's In Algebra 1 if it wasn't for her. I took alegebra in 7th grade and got an A in both semesters. at first you will be doing something and the next day you will be doing somethingelse.

Overall a good Decision. Pre algebra never really helped prepare me for algebra 1, so I think skipping it would not cause a great deal of harm. I got a 505 on my state test and was put straight into Algebra 1.

I suggest pre algebra, it's much easier than APA, unless he wants to be challenged. We can help. Almost everything was new to me there but when I would talk about it and compare it with my friends’ experience who are in math 6, many of the concepts I learned were also taught in 6th grade.

If his schools like mine, he will get a zero period in the high school, and for 1 of his 6 periods, he will probably be a teachers aid or some sort of help for staff.
