Bollywood(barring less than handful of films) is no place for connoisseurs of variety. In which Vicky Kaushal has tried his best to instill fear. Quick take: Bhoot - Part One: The Haunted Ship revolves around an abandoned ship. From the beginning, one keeps on juggling to identify the difference between the real (Bhoot- in this case) and the unreal (hallucinations) ! I think one of the best Bollywood horror film. It has glaring plotholes and continuity errors that are hard to miss.

You feel sympathetic when Vicky Kaushal aka Prithvi's loved one's also turn scary for him. There were hardly any jump scares. Overall, Bhoot Part One: The Haunted Ship is a mix of the thriller of today and the weird horror films of the 80s. July 14, 2020 Unfortunately, the outcome wasn't pleasant. The most problematic is the explicatory second half which takes the film back a full circle to the conventional, tacky horror films and TV shows we have been used to watching complete with “Hreem Kleem” Chamunda mantra like solution to tackle malicious spirits. Overall the movie is good. Had me on the edge of the seat throughout. Brilliant background score and story.

It seems like ghosts are also prone to getting jinxed. Its probably because it knows its going to cater to an audience which will readily gobble it up asking no questions.

Vicky Kaushal has tried hard to keep your interest awake in the film through his histrionics. It is 2012. And, in the process, confront ghosts from his own past. Snapping of the fingers is no longer normal for me. In the end, the burden of Bhoot Part One: The Haunted Ship falls on Vicky's shoulders and the actor tries his best to keep it from sinking. For a film that brings nothing new to the genre, Bhoot's reveal isn't even that hard to guess, given the film's steadfast refusal to take any leap of faith. It is based on a true incident that took place in Mumbai, about the MV Wisdom incident in 2011, and tells the story of an officer who has to move an abandoned but haunted ship lying static on Juhu Beach.
