I didn't find Bigger, Leaner Stronger to be that helpful. The book breaks down all the need to know information that a person trying to get in shape would need to know. I see praise everywhere for Michael Matthew's book 'Bigger Leaner Stronger' and I'm very tempted to buy it, but the way it is advertised it seems like a scam. Not really because of the books, but the great information and material he puts out online, his podcasts are also on point.
If people would read that book a couple times they would be on a good party to start our and learn enough to get where they want to be.The best $16 I've spent related to fitness (7.99 for each Bigger and Thinner for my girlfriend). He rarely, if ever, cites contradictory studies, which there are plenty of in some areas.I'd recommend it if you're new to fitness and nutritional concepts and want a basic guide to how/why your body builds muscle most effectively.Could you suggest an alternate book to this? I don't actually follow his workout system (I do strictly bodyweight exercises these days), but I have the book and follow some of his nutritional guidelines. The info found in his book is mainly covered in the wiki, however he explains it in a very easily-digestible way, and also uses multiple studies to back up his points.It’s fairly inexpensive on amazon, and provides you with a lot of great info to sort out how you want to approach fitness (bulk, cut, recomp, intro to nutrition/lifestyle factors, etc. It just that some programs work better and more efficient than others, but even that depends on body type and goals.Program specifics relly only matter once you hit intermediate IMHO.Considering the first thing it talks about is linking you to a list of supplements he says works, it's probably mostly marketing for his supplement line instead of a proper workout program.There's good programs in the wiki. I was hesitant to go on it at first because of the bro-split and thinking that I needed to hit each body part 2x per week, but I found myself recovering better and making steady progress following Mike's principles even while I'm on a cut. Or looking at it from a sets point of view, 3 sets of 30-50 reps 3x per week. Plus the first phase is already programmed in the app.I like it as a reminder on the basics of nutrition and physiology. Keep in mind, these results with Bigger Leaner Stronger took a whopping 28 days. Anyway, decent program. Bigger Leaner Stronger So I'm totally settled at work and totally flabby, soft, weak and entirely lacking in any functionality whatsoever it's time to sort my life out. it delivers. Things I liked about it:It's a good primer on the basics of getting big and/or ripped by leveraging basic nutritional science. This in conjunction with techniques in 5/3/1 by Jim Wendler (which Mike Matthews recommended) guarantees success.thats great man :) Im doing the 5 day split, did chest yesterday and wow i feel i got a better workout plus i was out in like 45 minutes hahaFive months ago I bought "Thinner Leaner Stronger" (I think it's basically the same book and shares the same principles, just most women would be reluctant to try a program promising to make them "bigger").
