I feel this was a better buy than the Solo because of the included surround/pot stand.
Measured exactly two cups water into a very all saucepan. I bought this and a Solo alcohol stove (I also have the Solo [wood burning] Stove). It bloomed quickly and boiled two cups of water quickly. If you can use denatured alcohol for first aid, which I don't know if you can or not, then your alcohol can serve dual purposes without producing soot.

Cost-wise a cheap alcohol stove and a cheap canister stove are about the same, so I might go canister, but at this point that is over a pound, and even with the fuel I would need for 2 mornings of coffee, an alcohol stove is only a couple of oz. Beware of any of these alcohol stoves out there made out of Coke cans, because where they may be light, they hold up to absolutely zero rough handling.
