In Sonic Advance there is a code where you can play as sonic and have tails follow you just like in Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 and Knuckles. The Genesis sound effects are there either because there wasn't a good Advance equivalent (example: Kiki's bombs) or it was just nicer on the ears (example: Tails flying) Hiya!
The levels are pretty much the same but somehow feel improved.
I'm hoping to create the definitive version of the game that any Sonic fan can enjoy. (Getting a Game Over in-game will also achieve this effect.) If you enjoy this game then also play games Sonic Mania Edition and Sonic 3 Complete.
