The hike still had…. Stay the night on one of their three campgrounds and take advantage of the boat ramp to sail over the clear blue water. If you cross the outlet to the lake & follow it around, there's a nice area of rock good for taking a break at, & next to a little waterfall.While hiking this trail, I designated it the best smelling trail! Just in the first mile of the trail we ran into two rattlesnakes so be carefully. Get directions, maps, and traffic for Sugar Pine, CA. The reservoir also sports a day use and swim area, and hikers will love the trail around the reservoir. The day we hiked this, I rated it as the Best Smelling trail, cuz of a lovely aroma emanating from an unknown source in a few places! Sugar Pine Cabin can as easily accommodate a couple or small family as it can an extended family or group of friends.
The trail was challenging on the way in but if you pace yourself and take breaks you will make it just fine. The attendant at the park booth said this was her favorite hike by the lake and it didn't disappoint. They are everywhere and only really go away at night.
