. Personally I would have liked to read more case histories in The Sociopath Next Door, more examples of what happens in a relationship with a sociopath. Sociopaths all play dominance games and view other people -- even their own families -- as objects to be manipulated and used, so the only thing you can do is disengage, even if the sociopath is your own parent or child. I don't know how, so I'm putting it in. It took me about 25 minutes, and gave me all the most important points of Martha Stout's book -- but at a fraction of the time. It discusses how manipulative, deceitful, charming, personable and fake a sociopath can be and the lengths one would Let me begin by saying, I'm not a psychologist and honestly, I know very little about it. In fact, four percent of the United States' population is composed of sociopaths. If given the opportunity to read a text about sociopathy and its prevalence, don't bother reading Stout's work.
