Also use hot with your breast pump to encourage milk let-down and reduce time spent pumping! It is normal for the Therapearl® to expand a little when heated for the recommended time. The Therapearl® can be placed directly on your skin, but be sure to test the temperature before applying. When in doubt or if your pack shows any signs of deforming, dispose of your pack - a pack that has been overheated should never be reused. In the early stages of breastfeeding, it is not uncommon to experience swelling when your milk first comes in, this is called engorgement.
We’ve struggled with tongue tie and poor latch which has led to repeated bouts of mastitis. I used these constantly, heated up, even while out and about. I prefer them when heated in the microwave as per instructions as felt it was warm and soothing but theres the option to use it as cold therapy too.
