I am fortunate to live exactly equidistant between two of the more established and active city neighborhoods - Belmont and Hawthorne. Then it's a direct (but fairly long) bus ride up to OHSU. They also yell and tell me that they'll steal my dog which is a little unnerving.This site's wildly inaccurate and ridiculous description of my neighborhood says: "In Sylvan-Highlands there are a lot of bars, restaurants, coffee shops, and parks. The sight of people in dire straits in a country with so much wealth is rather depressing and sad. The convenience is unmatched.I've lived here since I was born. Because this neighborhood is a bit more suburban, it’s less expensive than its downtown neighbors, and its excellent transportation infrastructure makes getting downtown a breeze.A former industrial area, the Pearl District is now the up-and-coming neighborhood for young Portlanders.
